Add one image (PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF or HEIC, up to 50 MB) and download a ZIP with a website icon set: favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), PNG favicons at 16, 32 and 48 px, a 180 px Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 px Android and PWA icons, a site.webmanifest and an HTML snippet with the link tags. You can add a maskable icon and a 1200 × 630 Open Graph image, and choose whether a non-square image is padded or cropped. Everything is generated in your browser.
Generate website and PWA icons from one image
Every website needs icons in several sizes: a small favicon for browser tabs, an Apple touch icon for iPhone and iPad home screens, and larger icons for Android and installed web apps (PWAs). This icon generator makes all of them from a single image, names them the usual way, and writes the manifest and HTML for you.
Making each size by hand in an image editor is slow and easy to get wrong. Here you add one image and download one ZIP. The PNG files are compressed losslessly with oxipng, so they stay small.
Transparency in your source image carries over to the favicons and Android icons. The Apple touch icon is placed on white, since iOS fills transparent areas with black. Start with a square image of 512 × 512 pixels or more, so the downscaled 16 × 16 version still has enough detail.
What's in the ZIP
| File | Size | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| favicon.ico | 16, 32 and 48 px | Classic favicon for browsers and Windows |
| favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png | 16 to 48 px | PNG favicons for browser tabs |
| apple-touch-icon.png | 180 × 180 | iPhone and iPad home screen |
| android-chrome-192x192.png | 192 × 192 | Android Chrome, PWA manifest |
| android-chrome-512x512.png | 512 × 512 | PWA install and splash screen |
| maskable-icon-512x512.png (optional) | 512 × 512 | Android icon shapes, with safe padding |
| og-image.png (optional) | 1200 × 630 | Link previews on social media |
| site.webmanifest | Lists the 192, 512 and maskable icons | |
| favicon-snippet.html | The link tags to paste into your page head |
For an installable PWA, the web app manifest needs the 192 and 512 pixel icons. The 180 pixel Apple touch icon is what iOS shows when someone adds your site to the home screen.
The generator is built for websites and web apps. It doesn't produce native app store assets such as the 1024 pixel App Store icon or Android adaptive icons with separate foreground and background layers. For a single ICO file with sizes up to 256 pixels, use PNG to ICO.
Tips for best results
Use a high-resolution source, ideally square. Keep the subject centered with some space around it, because some platforms crop icons into circles. A transparent PNG looks clean on both light and dark tabs. Thin lines and small text disappear at 16 × 16, so check the smallest preview before you download. Many brands use a simplified version of their logo as the favicon.
FAQ: Icon Generator
What image formats can I upload?
PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC, among others. A PNG with transparency gives the best favicons, since they appear on tabs and backgrounds of different colors.
Why does my icon look blurry at 16x16?
Fine details, thin lines and small text can't be drawn with 16 pixels. Simplify the design for the favicon: bold shapes, strong contrast and no text.
Do I need all icon sizes?
At minimum, a website needs a favicon (favicon.ico or a 32 pixel PNG), the 180 pixel Apple touch icon, and the 192 pixel icon for Android. Add the 512 pixel and maskable icons if your site is a PWA. The ZIP includes all of them, so you can upload only the ones you use.
Will transparency be preserved?
Yes, for the favicons, the Android icons and favicon.ico. The Apple touch icon and the maskable icon are placed on white, because those platforms don't display transparency well.
